How wonderful that you want to sign up (again) as a volunteer for the Northern Film Festival in Leeuwarden from November 4 to 8, 2026!

As a thank you for your efforts—if you are scheduled for more than 3 shifts of 5 hours or longer—you may attend the films screened during the festival for free, without limit, outside of your shifts. Unless they are sold out, because paying visitors naturally always take priority. In addition, we take good care of you with lunches, dinners, and a wide selection of small snacks and treats.

Important dates

Here are a number of important dates:

  • October 7: registration closed
  • October 16: draft schedule
  • October 26: final schedule
  • October 28: general volunteer briefing (more information on this will follow in early October, but please reserve this date in your calendar)
  • November 2: job-specific briefings for front desk and cashier staff, operators, Team Access and hospitality staff, and venue managers
  • November 2 to 4: festival setup
  • November 4 to 8: 46th edition of the Northern Film Festival!
  • November 9: festival dismantling

Availability Beschikbaarheid

Important!

We ask you to be available for at least 3 shifts; during the festival, you will be scheduled for a maximum of 5.5 hours per shift (this includes 30 minutes for lunch / dinner). Set-up and tear-down are full days from 09:00 to 17:00.

Applications are assessed based on availability. Therefore, please indicate as much availability as possible (you can mark multiple time slots as ‘yes’ per day); this not only helps us and the festival, but also increases the chance that you will be scheduled for your first-preference position.

Additionally, suitability is assessed for some positions. Examples include Location Manager, Venue Coordinator, and Team Access. One of the volunteer coordinators may contact you if you have signed up for this.

PLEASE NOTE: the times are indicative for now, as the final schedule is not yet known at the time of writing. Slightly different times may appear in your schedule (starting or ending up to 1 hour earlier).

Belangrijk!

We vragen je om minimaal 3 dagdelen beschikbaar te zijn; tijdens het festival word je per dienst maximaal 5,5 uur ingeroosterd (dat is inclusief 30 minuten lunch / diner). Op- en afbouw zijn volledige dagen van 09.00 tot 17.00 uur.

Aanmeldingen worden beoordeeld op beschikbaarheid. Geef daarom een zo ruim mogelijke beschikbaarheid aan (je kunt per dag meerdere tijdsloten op ‘ja’ zetten); daar help je niet alleen ons en het festival mee, maar is de kans ook groter dat je wordt ingepland op de functie van je eerste voorkeur.

Daarnaast wordt er voor sommige functies gekeken naar geschiktheid. Denk aan locatiemanager en zaalcoördinator, Team Toegang. Het kan zijn dat één van de vrijwilligerscoördinatoren nog even contact met je zoekt als je je hiervoor hebt opgegeven.

LET OP: de tijden zijn vooralsnog indicatief, omdat de definitieve programmering op het moment van schrijven nog niet bekend is. Het kan zijn dat in je rooster iets andere tijden verschijnen (max. 1 uur eerder beginnen of eindigen).
